Upcoming Event in APRIL -- Phuket

The new month -- April is reaching very soon and Phuket is the ideal place to spend your sunny summer. Now see what and where the events are going to happen to meet you while visiting.

PHUKET BIKE WEEK
Dates:
> 8-10 April 2016 (@Patong Beach)
> 15-16 April 2016 (@Sapan Hin, Phuket Town)
Location: Patong Beach, Phuket Town

About the event
Once you hear the roar of packs of big bikes rumbling around the hills and highways of Phuket Island, you’ll know that Phuket Bike Week is coming. This annual event is always set in the month of April and is usually organized to coincide with Songkran, Thailand’s biggest festival.

It has a number of concurrent fun events to entertain bikers, their friends, families, and onlookers including motorbike and custom bike exhibitions, Miss Phuket Bike Week competition, a beach party, concerts and a ride for peace, just to name a few.

The venue is very much a family-friendly kind of event and enjoys a fun and fantastic atmosphere all around. Though some of the bikers might look tough, they hardly say ‘no’ to anyone who wants to take pictures of their two-wheeled babies. So don’t be shy – just ask!

SONGKRAN FESTIVAL (Thai New Year)

Dates: 13-15 April 2016
Location: All areas

About the event
Songkran is surely the most fun, amazing festival in Thailand!

Running on 13th April every year, it actually represents the old Thai New Year till the international calendar was adopted in 1940. Coming toward the end of the dry, hot season in Thailand, what a perfect opportunity to absolutely soak, drench, and saturate everyone you see with water by any means necessary! It's awesome fun, and there's not many ways to escape the action - so why not join in!

PHUKET PRIDE 2016

Date: 24 April - 1 May 2016
Location: Patong Beach, Phuket

About the event
On 19th October 2014 – 6 months before the week begins, The Phuket Loves You Club (PLU) officially launched Phuket Pride week 2015. Although the dates have been published since the end of Pride week 2014, the PLU have now launched two web banners and announced the 2015 theme ‘Freedom to Live’ the full explanation is shown on their web site which contains the following extracts:

“In Thailand, individuals who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT) experience many daily challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents. They are often labelled as being promiscuous, self-indulgent and deserving of little respect.

So we hope that during Phuket Pride week 2015, all LGBT residents and tourists of Phuket can come and celebrate their right to live their lives as they wish and to be proud of being who they were born to be. We also invite our ‘Straight’ friends to join us in the week’s events; together we will break down these barriers and thus have more freedom to live in harmony with the rest of the community in Phuket and Thailand.
